PetSpeak turns pet audio into contextual, plain-English interpretations. This policy explains what we collect to do that - on the website and in the iOS app - how it is used, where it is stored, and the choices you have.

What we collect

  • Account information - the email address and password you sign up with (we store a salted hash, never the plain password), and an optional display name.
  • Pet profiles - a pet's name, species (dog or cat), and optionally breed, age range, and free-text notes you add to help condition the interpretation.
  • Audio clips and translation sessions - each recording you submit is uploaded to object storage and linked to a session record containing the species, processing status, the interpretation result, and a snapshot of the pet profile used at the time.
  • Feedback - if you rate a result helpful or not, and any correction or notes you add, we store that against the session.
  • Usage counts - a per-month count of translations you have run, used to enforce plan limits (Starter, Plus, Pro).
  • iOS waitlist - if you join the iOS waitlist before the app is available, we store the email address you provide and where the signup came from.
  • Technical data - sign-in sessions record the device/browser user agent and IP address they were issued from, so we can detect and revoke suspicious sessions. Our hosting provider (Cloudflare) processes basic request metadata to operate and secure the service.

We do not run third-party advertising or ad-tracking on PetSpeak.

How we use it

Your data is used to run the service: to process an audio clip into an interpretation result, apply your pet's profile as context, authenticate you, enforce your plan's monthly quota, and show you your translation history. Feedback you submit (ratings and corrections) helps us evaluate and improve interpretation quality over time.

We do not sell your data, and we do not share your audio or account data with advertisers or data brokers.

Where it is stored

PetSpeak runs on Cloudflare's infrastructure. Account, pet, session, feedback, and usage records are stored in a Cloudflare D1 database; audio clips are stored in a Cloudflare R2 bucket. Access to your records is scoped to your authenticated account. Sign-in tokens are kept in your browser (or, in the iOS app, the device Keychain) to keep you logged in.

The iOS app

The PetSpeak iOS app signs in to the same account and backend described above - there is no separate, offline-only mode. Audio you translate in the app is uploaded to the same backend, and your sign-in token is stored in the device Keychain rather than in a browser.

Payments

PetSpeak does not currently process payments inside the app. Plus and Pro plan upgrades are arranged by contacting us directly; if that changes, any payment processor we add will receive only what is needed to complete the purchase and will never receive your audio clips or pet data.

Your choices

  • Access - view your translation history and pet profiles from your dashboard and account pages.
  • Edit or remove a pet profile - do this yourself from your account at any time.
  • Delete your data or account - we do not yet have a self-serve delete-account control. Contact us and we will delete your account, translation history, and stored audio clips.

How long we keep data

Account, pet, session, and audio data is kept for as long as your account exists, so your history is available when you return. When you or we delete a pet profile, session, or account, the underlying records and audio clips are removed from active storage; backups our infrastructure provider retains age out on their normal backup cycle.

Children

PetSpeak is not directed at children and is not intended for use by anyone under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will remove it.

Security

Passwords are stored only as salted hashes. Access to account, pet, session, and audio data is restricted to your authenticated account and to the infrastructure that runs the service. No system is guaranteed to be 100% secure; if a breach affects your data, we will notify you without undue delay.

Changes

We may update this policy as PetSpeak evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with a new "last updated" date.
